The Deed of Assumption is a companion template agreement to the Regional Indigenous Land Use Agreement for Exploration (ILUA) between the Dja Dja Warrung People and the Minerals Council of Australia (VI2004/2005). It is a template deed to be used by any applicant for the grant of an exploration license within the area covered by the ILUA. It provides that, by executing the deed, the applicant assumes the rights and obligations of the explorer under the ILUA and is legally bound by the ILUA as if the ILUA were a contract between the Native Title Signatories on behalf of the Dja Dja Wurrung People and the applicant (Art. 2, 3). The applicant for the grant of an exploration license acknowledges that he or she had an opportunity to seek independent legal advice with respect to all aspects of the deed and the ILUA (Art. 4).
